NEST SCHOLARSHIP

Opportunity to study science with a scholarship at Nest
NEST, or the National Entrance Screening Test, offers a chance to pursue science education with scholarships at prestigious institutions recognized for their excellence in the field. Both the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar and the Centre for Excellence in Basic Science (CEBS) in Mumbai are independent establishments that operate under the Department of Atomic Energy, a division of the Government of India.

Under the "Disha" scheme initiated by the Union Ministry of Atomic Energy, students admitted to NISER and CEBS will receive a yearly scholarship of Rs 60,000 and a summer internship stipend of Rs 20,000. Upon completion of their studies, students may have the chance to pursue research opportunities in distinguished institutions both in India and abroad. Exceptional academic achievers will also have the opportunity to attend an interview for admission to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Training School.
Candidates who have attained a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in science subjects in both their +1 and +2 examinations are eligible to apply. Those who have taken the exams in either 2021 or 2022, as well as those who are scheduled to take the Plus Two exam in 2023, can apply. Applicants must have been born after August 1, 2003. NISER and CEBC offer 200 and 57 seats, respectively, with reserved seats as per applicable laws. All districts except Wayanad will have examination centers, and applicants should prioritize five centers during the application process.

On June 24, a computer-based exam will be conducted, consisting of four sections containing objective-type questions. Each section will include questions on Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, worth 50 marks each. The three sections with the highest scores will determine the candidates' ranking. Negative marking will be applied for incorrect answers and for questions with multiple answers.
Candidates will only receive marks if they record the complete, correct answers to questions with multiple answers. 'NISAR' and 'CEBC' will have separate merit lists.
Interested candidates can apply online through the website https://www.nestexam.in/ by May 17. The website provides access to previous years' question papers, syllabi, and detailed brochures.
