Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, has invited applications for admission to Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Design (MDes) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes starting in July 2009.

MTech Programmes are in the Departments of Biotechnology, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engg, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering, MDes Programme in the Department of Design, PhD Programmes in the Departments of Biotechnology, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Design, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Humanities & Social Sciences and also at the Centres for Energy, Environment and Nanotechnology.

Assistantships are available to all full-time Regular students. Application forms with details can be downloaded from http://www.iitg.ernet.in/acad/ or obtained from the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati – 781 039, Assam, personally till 9.4.2009.

It can be obtained by ordinary Post, by sending a request to reach Deputy Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati, Assam – 781 039, latest by 8.4.2009, in an envelope super-scribed ‘Request for PhD/MTech/MDes Application form’ (as applicable), along with a self-addressed unstamped envelope of size 24cm x 15cm.

Filled in application forms complete with copies of mark sheets/certificates and other testimonials and a DD for Rs.150/- (Rs.75/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and payable at Guwahati, should be sent to the Head of the concerned Department/Centre, IIT Guwahati, Guwahati-781039, to reach on or before 20th April 2009 with the words ‘Application for MTech/MDes/PhD admission’ (As applicable) written on the top of the envelope for sending the completed form.

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK), will hold the Under Graduate Entrance Test 2009 (UGET 2009) for admission to the Undergraduate Courses in Private, Unaided, Medical and Engineering Colleges of Karnataka for the academic year 2009-10, on 17th May 2009. Admissions will be based on Entrance Test and Centralized Counseling. There is no common Entrance Test for admission to BDS during 2009-10.

Applicants should have passed the 2nd PUC/12th Std or equivalent examination. Candidates who are appearing for these examinations and expecting the results may also apply.

Eligibility for MBBS will be as fixed by Medical Council of India and that for BE will be as per the All India Council for Technical Education norms. Applications can be submitted online from 9th March 2009, at www.comedk.org, after obtaining a DD for Rs.650/- for 3 subjects (PCB or PCM) and Rs.850/- for all 4 subjects (PCMB), in favour of COMEDK-2009, payable at Bangalore.

The filled in applications should reach COMEDK, 37, First Floor, Ramanashree Chambers, Lady Curzon Road, Bangalore, Karnataka -560001 by ‘POST’ only, along with the DD and the documents asked for, on or before 11.4.2009.

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has invited application for the for admission to Ph.D and M.S Programmes under Regular Full-time [with/without Half-time Teaching/Research Assistantship (HTRA)] and Part-time/External in the Engineering Departments of Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Engineering Design, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Materials and Ocean and in the Departments of Chemistry, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Studies, Mathematics and Physics.

Facility for doing Joint Ph.D in Engineering & Sciences offered by IIT Madras & National University of Singapore and Joint Ph.D programme offered by IIT Madras, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Trivandrum and Christian Medical College, Vellore in the area of Biomedical Devices and Technology are also available.

Application and Admission Brochure can be obtained in person from the Deputy Registrar (Acad.), IIT Madras, Chennai 600036 up to 25.3.2009. It can be obtained from this address by Post up by sending a request to reach there latest by 20.3.2009, enclosing a self-addressed envelope of size 26cm x 18 cm, and a Demand Draft for Rs. 250/- (Rs.125/- in the case of SC/ST/PD/Female candidates) drawn in favour of ‘IIT Madras’, payable at Chennai, with the cover super-scribed ‘Request for application for Ph.D/M.S programme’.

Application form can also be downloaded form www.iitm.ac.in and submitted as instructed. Those applying to more than one Department should submit separate application for each Department.

Those seeking admission to Biotechnology/Chemistry/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Departments must apply online only, latest by 25.3.2009, following the instructions given therein through the respective Websites http://www.biotech.iitm.ac.in/msphd http://www.chem.iitm.ac.in/msphd http://www.ee.iitm.ac.in/msphd; http://www.mech.iitm.ac.in/msphd and send the application to the concerned Departments.

Candidates applying online have to send the DD along with a hard copy of the filled in application. Reservations are applicable to SC/ST/OBC/Persons with Disability (PD) candidates as per Govt. of India rules. Filled in forms with all enclosures, and the cover super-scribed ‘Application Form for Ph.D/M.S Programme’ should reach ‘The Deputy Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Technology Madras Chennai-600 036’ latest by 27.3.2009.
